Why is it that when a woman wants to show any form of geekyness. She is categorized into what this century has called The Fake Geek Girl Culture. This culture that has erupted within the nerd/geek community means that any girl who takes the slightest interest in anything nerd or geek related is either
A) Doing it for attention
OR
B) Doing it to get a MANS attention
Now for both me and women like me, we know that from the get go it is hard for girls to become interested in comics. Something that reiterates the facts of girls not being interested or reading comics for attention was DC new lineup for female comic book writers. Before DC’s launch of the New 52 the proportion of female creators in comics was around sadly 12% but now that has gone down to 1% because of the new 52! Like what is that about? Many fans have made outcry’s to demand more female writers or see their sales plummet. Knowing now that there is only around 1% of women in mainstream comics ( like Marvel and DC) if you look at the language and artwork of the stories and how they don’t even portray a woman properly! Like for example how come almost every situation a woman gets into, male superheroes don’t have to deal with it in their story lines. So why are women subjected to this type of objectification for men’s entertainment? Why are women also not allowed to partake in the nerd/geek culture? Is there some “No Girls Allowed” policy that has been reinstated to cock-block any women from being integrated into the culture? These are the very important questions I need to know!!!

Lets continue on this idea of the Geek Girl for a moment shall we...
Looking at he idea of geek culture since the early 2000's , different superhero movies have come out such as Spiderman,Ironman and Batman (just to name a few). so even if you like the movies but never read the comics you yes YOU are still considered a geek! woohoo!!! but why do so many geek guys get their panties in a twist when it comes to the idea of what defines a geek. it shouldn't matter how intense you are when it comes to comics, apparently that is really hard to understand (insert sarcasm here).
To go along with the fake geek girl and how contradictory it is, lets talk about t-shirts:
I simply love wearing my superhero t-shirts but why do my t-shirts have to be pink and bedazzled, guys shirts look exactly like the costume and they are actually comfy and not form fitting. i have given up on finding a geeky t-shirt in the women's section that actually looks like the costume. That is why I buy guys t-shirts because they are not only accurate but also don't hug any curves that i may have. ~Nicole
